The Ryn system is a tricky thing to explain. I will have to use a metaphor I suppose.
Now, most planetary systems use massive information servers to connect com systems, computer devices, and business documents. These are all connected by an ever more massive server, often regulated by the Imperial government. So it works like a Calmarian Devilsquid with an infinite number of arms. Each one holds onto a system of information sharing. We will just call them books. Each system has all it's information in a book, and the Empire controls the Devilsquid that holds all these books, and it can read them as it wishes. Is this making sense? Well, I'll continue anyway.
Now, the Devilsquid is holding all these books. Some of the books are the same, or very similar. Some smaller systems don't let their books be held. They keep them secret. Now, imagine there are tiny Gilfish that swim around the Squid holding their secret books in their mouth. The Devilsquid tries to catch them to get their books, see? How do they hold them in their mouth? Oh for crying out loud... It's a metaphor. Just try to keep up with me.
Okay, now a long time ago, the Ryn had a little fish of their own, with a very special book in it's mouth. Their system was brilliant, and their little fish was so fast, the big Devilsquid couldn't catch it. Now, the little Rynfish was so clever, it began hiding under the tentacles of the Imperial Squid and began reading the books it was holding. Every time it read a new book, it got bigger. Now, it was so good at hiding, that the Devilsquid never noticed it, and after it had read all the books, even the books of the secret Gilfish, it was as big as the squid. It had all the information the big squid had, but it wasn't in control of any of the books. It had just read them, and knew what they had in them. It had even left a little bit of itself in each book! What a clever fish, yes indeed.
Well, after centuries and centuries of this the fish kept evolving and becoming different. It never stayed in one place, and the squid could never catch it. Soon, it didn't even need to be a fish anymore. It could become whatever it wanted, looking for new books to read. And it could add whatever it wanted to the other little books. It was everywhere. It didn't use it's power to control any of the other fish, or even the Devilsquid. It had no interest in hurting anything. It just wanted to be the smartest, and the coolest of the systems. So yes. It finally evolved into it's best form, and now it's everywhere. Only Ryn can talk to it, but it can talk to whatever it wants. It's a very brilliant system really. It's totally peaceful, but if used in the right way, it can be quite powerful. Now, any questions?
What's that? If it isn't a fish anymore, what is it now? Well, that is very simple my friend. Now, the Ryn System is the water.
So, the Rin network is drinkable? Also fish can't read.
