Kolu Vish: Introduction

Jedi Archive-Profiles-Padawan- Kolu Vish

Selected entries as noted by Librarian Nanto Bali:

Kolu Vish:

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Height: 2.1M

Mass: 80.74 Kg

Eyes: 2, Dark Brown

Cranial Hair: Black

Skin Color: Olive

Species: Kodru Ji

Force potential: Moderately High

Subject arrived at Corusant Temple 6 BBY in custody of Jedi Knight Lorkev at age 4. According to record, Subject was abducted by Jedi Lorkev in order to secure negotiations with the xenophobic species of the Kodru Ji who viewed Jedi to be weak until Jedi Lorkev's unorthodox method of treaty. It is important to note that ritual abduction is common on the planet of Munto Codru, and often feuds are settled or started by such acts. As such, the parents of subject Kolu Vish have since voluntarily given their son up to the Jedi Enclave for training, seeing such associations as advantageous to the wellbeing of their tribe.

The subject's form poses several difficulties in training. Upon reception, the child bares striking resemblance to a hound possessed of six legs. Although resembling an animal, the Wyrwulvs as they are referred are quite intelligent and tenacious. Subject Kolu's teeth are quite sharp as other instructors have discovered and claws not capable of being retracted. The subject is capable of only a few growls with associated meaning, and possesses no opposable digits, making manipulations of data pads and lightsabers impossible. However, the pup (if you'll excuse my lack of nouns for a young Wyrwulf) is already quite capable with the force, being able to levitate small objects and sense the presence of others. After approximately eight years of growth the pup should pupate in a cocoon and assume a four armed humanoid shape. This will set the student back significantly in the wielding of lightsabers seeing that he will have to learn how to walk and talk among many other things before he may begin his physical training in ernest.

This being said, I foresee little difficulty in subject's immediate integration into the Youngling classes, as the pup exhibits a tenacity for learning. As a side note, the other Younglings have also taken a liking to their young companion, although they have a penchant for treating the Wyrwulf as a pet.

10 BBY

Addendum:

Subject Kolu Vish has finished his month long pupation in temple medical facilities. The medical staff have been fascinated by the Youngling's metamorphosis into a fully formed humanoid in such a short amount of time. He emerged from his "cocoon" already capable of limited speech and exceptional dexterity considering his lack of experience in his new form. Unfortunately, subject still possesses the desire to lick and bite when excited, this behavior will have to be changed or tolerated, I am interested to see which it shall be. Integration into classes has been difficult, for some, it is hard to understand that he is the same as the six legged Wyrwulf of a month ago, yet most younglings accept his transformation without question. It would be wonderful to posses the open mind of a child, in some ways younglings are better Jedi than their masters.

14 BBY

Jedi Lorbek has requested Kolu Vish as his padawan. The two seem to have an understandable affinity toward one another which shall be useful in the training of Kolu Vish. He has been deemed ready to begin instruction by the Knight seeing that his Lightsaber skills have grown significantly, rendering him capable of self defense. The young Jedi possesses talent in kinetic manipulation and energy negation, it will be interesting to watch the young padawan grow in the coming years as puberty manifests many new talents and abilities. It is notable that the Jedi, although generally well liked has developed a withdrawn and strong headed demeanor. As with all Jedi, this may prove a boon or bane, overall, the council is confident in the young Kodru Ji's developments thus far. Biting and licking have all but vanished except in the case of effection, which is rather disconcerting.

Wrestling with Desire

It had come so easily to him before and his master had since told him never to use it.

Draw your power from discipline

He repeated these words to himself like a mantra, for they were precious, some of the last advice bestowed upon him by his late master. It was so easy though, and it felt so natural. While other manifestations of the force he used were disciplined extensions of his utmost focus, the lightning arcing from his hands felt more like freeing a damned river, a simple release of restraint.

He closed his eyes and focused his mind again.

There will be a time to meditate on this later, something is wrong, something awful approaches.

Lord Yarrow Explaining the Ryn System to a Simpleton

The Ryn system is a tricky thing to explain. I will have to use a metaphor I suppose.

Now, most planetary systems use massive information servers to connect com systems, computer devices, and business documents. These are all connected by an ever more massive server, often regulated by the Imperial government. So it works like a Calmarian Devilsquid with an infinite number of arms. Each one holds onto a system of information sharing. We will just call them books. Each system has all it's information in a book, and the Empire controls the Devilsquid that holds all these books, and it can read them as it wishes. Is this making sense? Well, I'll continue anyway.

Now, the Devilsquid is holding all these books. Some of the books are the same, or very similar. Some smaller systems don't let their books be held. They keep them secret. Now, imagine there are tiny Gilfish that swim around the Squid holding their secret books in their mouth. The Devilsquid tries to catch them to get their books, see? How do they hold them in their mouth? Oh for crying out loud... It's a metaphor. Just try to keep up with me.

Okay, now a long time ago, the Ryn had a little fish of their own, with a very special book in it's mouth. Their system was brilliant, and their little fish was so fast, the big Devilsquid couldn't catch it. Now, the little Rynfish was so clever, it began hiding under the tentacles of the Imperial Squid and began reading the books it was holding. Every time it read a new book, it got bigger. Now, it was so good at hiding, that the Devilsquid never noticed it, and after it had read all the books, even the books of the secret Gilfish, it was as big as the squid. It had all the information the big squid had, but it wasn't in control of any of the books. It had just read them, and knew what they had in them. It had even left a little bit of itself in each book! What a clever fish, yes indeed.

Well, after centuries and centuries of this the fish kept evolving and becoming different. It never stayed in one place, and the squid could never catch it. Soon, it didn't even need to be a fish anymore. It could become whatever it wanted, looking for new books to read. And it could add whatever it wanted to the other little books. It was everywhere. It didn't use it's power to control any of the other fish, or even the Devilsquid. It had no interest in hurting anything. It just wanted to be the smartest, and the coolest of the systems. So yes. It finally evolved into it's best form, and now it's everywhere. Only Ryn can talk to it, but it can talk to whatever it wants. It's a very brilliant system really. It's totally peaceful, but if used in the right way, it can be quite powerful. Now, any questions?

What's that? If it isn't a fish anymore, what is it now? Well, that is very simple my friend. Now, the Ryn System is the water.

A time to Survive

Damn the Council and their lapdogs. They were happy to let me die on Teth. Now that I'm on the path to true power and freedom they have noticed their failure and are taking direct action. So be it, once I have have completed my transformation I will give them their fight.

<Sgt. I have received word to implement order 66. But Commander their... Sgt this is a direct order! Yes sir, sorry sir. It will be carried out immediately. See that it is Sgt. High Command out. Troopers with me we have new orders. May they forgive us. What was that sir? Nothing, quickly now.>

A time to survive

The war with the Separatists is closing. With the deaths of Count Dooku and General Grievous the Separatists forces are disorganized, but a wounded animal is at it's most dangerous. Supreme Chancellor Palpatine has ordered the destruction of a high value droid factory on Bixis E-72 on the edge of the outer rim. Unbeknownst to him Master Yoda has felt a stirring in the force there and has sent Jedi Knight Lorbek and his padawan to investigate. Together with the clones the jedi must nutralize the droid factory and discover what dwells in this Planetoids heart.

Kysgin Yarrow: Key of the Mind

Keldooine, a small world on the fringe borders of the Outer Rim and Imperial Space, isn't viewed as much more than a trade stop between systems. That being said, inventory changes many a hand as ships drop cargo and new vessels pick them up. These transactions are governed by none other that Yarrgos the Hutt. Renowned for his personal skills, cool temper, and brilliant financial mind. Keldooine doesn't have a named leader, but if it did, it would be Yarrgos.

His meeting hall, the largest chamber of his subterranean “mansion”, was adorned with historical art pieces from all across the universe. The air supply system pumped the room full of rich oxygen scented with exotic incense and herbs that made one feel relaxed. Trusting. The great table before him was piled high with delicacies made from the finest ingredients the planet could produce. He had a taste for the lavish, to say the least. Yarrow himself was fairly petite, as far as Hutts go. He was coiled tightly, his dark brown skin wrinkled with age, and a long midnight blue wig of exquisite hair hung down his back, as was the style. Serving droids brought him plate after plate of “stuffed this” and “baked that.” The two Kel'Dor business owners he was meeting with didn't seem to have much appetite. To his left was his infamous bodyguard. A one eyed Duros, who was not know for mercy, or ever missing a target with his carbine. To his right, taking notes, was his young ward. A Ryn named Kysgin. The subject of this story.

Now, one of Yarrgos greatest achievements in his rise to power was the financial overthrow of a noble family of Ryn that made their home on this planet. The Gherallow family was one of the last known communities of Ryn, living together in one place. Their nomadic species has a tendency to travel, never knowing one home for long. This family made due by traveling to and fro on star ships, but always finding their way back to Keldooine. When Yarrgos made it planetside, they were enslaved within the month. He siezed their finances, killed two of their elders, and kidnapped the child of their leader as a hostage. He raised the boy as his own, as his personal ward. Taught him the ways of the Hutt, the numbers for business, and the tricks of the trade. In honesty, he had become fond of the lad. This was 20 some years ago. This was young Yarrow, who adopted the last names, intermixed, of his two families. After this much time, Kysgin, Ryn blood boiling in his veins, was going out of his mind.

The meeting lasted several hours. Contracts were signed, and business arrangements were made. More than a few threats were dropped as well, but the Kel'Dor merchants left with their heads, and a new trade route. In this meeting alone there were no fewer than a dozen infractions of imperial law. Young Kysgin seemed nervous, but in his mind he was gathering all the courage he had. It was time to go on stage and give his greatest performance of all (his Ryn heritage made the hardest trials of life feel very much like a great play.) He tucked his Datapad under his arm and walked out to face his Lord Yarrgos. There he stood calm and collected on the outside, shaking and weeping on the inside.

Kysgin. My boy. You have something you wish to discuss with me? You stand like a man on the gallows.”

“Lord Yarrgos. We have something rather important to discuss. To put things quite clearly, I am leaving you. I can stand this place no longer. I thank you for all you have taught me, all the privileges my upbringing has endowed to me, and the honor of helping your rise to power. But I have a small vessel awaiting my journey off world, and towards my future.”

Yarrgos looked as though he had eaten a Ferillian Saltroot. He blinked a few times in disbelief, then let forth a huge baritone laugh that filled the chamber.

“ Hurrhurrhurr. You are most amusing to me my young ward! You, more than any, know that your leaving this place would put by business at too great a risk. You have far too many documents and insight into the dark corners of my trade world. No, my child, you will be here until I decide you may leave this place. And that will not be any time soon. Hurrhurrhurr.”

“On the contrary, noble Yarrgos. In staying here with you, your assets and holdings would be at much greater risk. You have taught me well the ways of getting what you want, through planning and trickery. For years now I have been planning my exodus, and today will be that day. You see, being in charge of the vast majority of your personal notes and records, I have created an encoded file holding a documented time-line of your transactions over the last six years. This could very easily fall into the hands of the Imperial Law Enforcers off planet..”

Yarrgos' eyes narrowed angrily, and his faithful Duros gun-hound drew forth his rotator carbine, leveling it towards Kysgins head. It's battery cells hummed to life.

“..Now before you do anything too hasty, my Lord master, you should be aware that this encoded file has been circulated through the Ryn database. I know you've heard of such a thing. A secret network of information sharing between all of my noble people spanning all systems. There is no way to infiltrate or dissect it. If I don't regulate my file once every 24 hours, it will crack open and spew forth a hefty data load of your crimes into the main network, which will find it's way to being published all over the verse. So if I were to come to some kind of unfortunate end, it would not bode well for you and yours. Now, I don't want to leave on bad terms. Quite the contrary. I wish nothing more for you to feel pride for my careful planning. I simply need to see the world. I must spread my wings and taste the flavors of the galaxy. I wish to build my own holdings. I wish to grow my own networks, and make allies in high places. I want to rise, and fulfill my own potential. On my journey, I shall even endeavor to send business your way. Have faith in your Ward Yarrgos, for the student has become as the master. Great indeed were your lessons.”

With that Kysgin turned and began to pace out of the meeting hall. His noble tight fitting gray robes were immaculately clean. His long white hair was braided down his back, and his fine chin beard hung equally low in front, bound by tiny silver rings. The rings on his fingers glistened, and his countless earrings twinkled with tiny electric LEDs. He walked like a man with power. He had truly grown up into his lifestyle. Before leaving he turned quickly on his heals to once again address his Master, who appeared to be dehydrating out of rage and shock.

“Oh, and once last thing, dear Master. You will be funding my journey. I have many years of wages coming, and I expect their interests has become quite high. I expect regular transfers to my personal account every few span. If I don't find the funds suitable, you will be made to know. As will my allies across the Ryn mainframe. Farewell great one. May your investments flourish and your tail grow long.” He gave the graceful bow of a Ryn performer, with the professional poise of a Noble blooded Lordling.

Kysgin Yarrow, having planned his escape for almost a decade, had used his brilliant mind to ensure his success, yet for all his mental prowess, he failed to have the foresight to put enough fuel in his tiny star-ship. Be lost power a few Parsecs into the Outer Rim. It was his great luck that saw to it that a Republic Transport ship picked up his SOS within a few days.
